Shows [Memphis]

Postby Jillian Moore » Wed Feb 25, 2009 11:41 pm

I thought I'd start a place for us to talk about shows we're having. I hadn't planned ahead, but this could be a place where we discuss experiences with galleries/venues/etc. and how we prepared with information following the reception.

I'll be leaving for Memphis tomorrow for my show at the National Ornamental Metal Museum. I'll report back next week!

Hi Jillian, I think that a separate area for discussions about shows is a good idea: but rather than use one discussion (which gets very long, and can wander off topic) I have started a new forum for discussions related to shows.
:)

To make an analogy:
A topic == A discussion related to a topic (usually given away by the topic title).
A forum == a virtual space (think of it like a room) for discussions covering a general topic.

So I created this "Shows / Exhibitions" forum (room) for topics (conversations) about shows.
.... I also moved this topic here, but left a "shadow" of it where it was originally posted.

It was difficult "forecasting" what "rooms" should be initially created, and I think you have helped point out one I missed. Thanks!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope Memphis goes really well for you: do tell us about it when you get back.
If you don't know it's because you haven't asked.

Memphis was very fun, and now I'm very tired. It seems that I get sick after trips like this--not enough sleep and then surrounded by germy people at airports.

The Metal Museum is wonderful, and I was happy to wander around there for some time. Unfortunately the weather turned, and I was stuck inside the last two days.

The reception went very well, and I was excited by peoples reactions to the work as well as the talk--a large group of mostly traditionally trained blacksmiths who were very into my strange creatures. It was very fun. I know there are more details to the whole thing, but right now I'm still tired. And I have to get back to work in the studio sooner than later.
